Open Adoption & Parenting We hope that the birth parents that choose us as adoptive parents will consider the possibilities of an open adoption. We both feel very committed to open adoption because we believe that it is truly the healthiest approach for all parties concerned – the adoptive parents, the birth family, and, most importantly, the child. We want our child to grow up fully knowing his/her own story and are very interested to be in a relationship with you and your extended family. We are both looking forward to taking a leave of absence from work once a child arrives in our lives. We plan to both stay at home together for the first weeks or so, and then ‘tag team’ our time off for the next five to six months. After that, we are both hoping to be able to do our work from home part-time. We look forward to organizing our schedules so that one of us is at home to feed, play and change diapers!
